Last week Chris was scheduled to attend a conference in Las Vegas. We decided that it might be fun for me to tag along too. It just worked out that his mom was already planning on being down here for Thanksgiving, so she just stayed a bit longer with the kids while the two of us jetted off alone.
The timing was perfect since we really hadn't been able to celebrate our anniversary which had fallen on Thanksgiving day this year. After all the commotion of the prior week it was really great to get away!
We arrived in Vegas quite late on Sunday night....like 1am because of weather trying to get out of SFO. We were staying at the Aria and our room was really nice. The view from the 19th floor overlooking the strip and also the airport was amazing. It was super nice to lay in bed looking at the lights of the night.
Monday was spent sleeping in by me. Chris went to his conference and I blissfully slept til like 11. It was amazing! I took my time getting ready and then we met up for lunch at a Thai place. I headed back to the room to relax some more and do some cyber Monday shopping. That night we were able to meet up with Chris's extended family for a fun dinner at Carson Kitchen. It was really good! Later that night we hit up the 24 hour patisserie located in our hotel. Um...hello 24 hour amazing dessert place, that is only steps from my elevator....
Tuesday was more of the same. Sleep, eat, rest, bathe, eat, and oh I discovered the pool. Wow! Laying out in the warm sunshine without a care in the world was pure bliss. No lunches to pack, no groceries to buy, no cooking or cleaning. Just nothing. It really was just what I needed. I felt more rested than I have in years. We went out again that night with Chris's uncle to Grimaldi's. Another tasty evening.
Wednesday looked alot like Tuesday. :) I got up and did some shopping which was fun, but after eating, I again headed for the pool. It was the best place to be between 1-3pm. The sun was at a perfect place to be warm and amazing. Chris and I had a fancy dinner of tapas followed by a live Comedy Show. We weren't sure what to expect, but it turned out to be really fun. Naturally we had to hit up our favorite dessert place on the way back to our room.
Thursday it was basically the same. Chris was off to conference it up, while I indulged in doing nothing. Pool time was mandatory for me. I also ventured off to find a delicious crepe. Yum! That evening we rode the roller coaster at NY and we went for Italian food with Chris's uncle. Afterwards was more dessert. :) We had to try all the different things.

Friday was our last full day. Chris had just a couple of conference things, but we mostly got to hang out all day. I even convinced Chris to come with me to the pool. He wanted the shade, but he was still there. We walked around a bit, found other good food, and even decided to play $2 into a slot machine. Within a few minutes I had made $17! I cashed out immediately. Haha! Another vegas activity to check off the list. That night we had really tasty fried chicken on a sandwich of waffles. It was at a place called Bruxie. We would totally go back. When it got sufficiently late, we went to check out the nightclub in our hotel. We had never done that before so were being adventurous. We got in for free and to our surprise it wasn't that bad. The music was normal stuff and it wasn't deafening. We didn't stay super long because my feet were killing me from being in heels all night.
Afterwards was more dessert and then off to bed.
We arrived home on Saturday afternoon. We took Connie to the airport and then had a relaxing rest of our weekend. It was really great to be back with the kids. I missed them a bunch. We all put up our tree and lights together and it was really nice. What an amazing week we had. A big thank you to Connie for holding down the fort while we were gone. It was really really nice to get that break. Can't wait to do it again sometime.
