Party time and heat!

Friday night we celebrated Neil's 7th birthday with friends. He wanted to go bowling. We had 5 of his friends along with his sisters at the bowling alley. The kids had 2 hours to bowl, eat cake and ice cream, bowl some more, and open gifts. He was so happy to see his friends from school that we haven't seen in about a month. It was cosmic bowling time which made it fun but also really hard to take decent pictures.

On Saturday it was back to softball for us. Grace, Neil, and Chris went to Benicia for a tournament and I took Claire to Manteca for hers. It was a crazy hot weekend everywhere. Claire played on this big fancy field complex called Big League Dreams. Each of their fields is designed to look like a major league ballpark. They played on Fenway on Saturday and Wrigley on Sunday. The fields were turf on the infield which made them even hotter than a grass field would be. She was a trooper playing 3 games in 110 degree heat. It was crazy hot!

On Sunday she skipped her team's morning game so that she could attend her best friend's birthday party. Her team won that game so we headed out to play in the second game. It was even hotter that day. At least we know that we can do it if needed. No more complaining about 90 degrees. :) While at the birthday party, Neil and I shopped. I took him to the Lego store for a bit to play.

That night it was beautiful outside when the sun finally started to go down. We got out the bikes and went on our first family ride since Neil graduated to a big bike. He was pretty sad about it at first, but by the end he was having a blast. He was pretty matchy matchy with all his green.

Today our new hot tub cover arrived. It doesn't look like much, but it makes it so that we can finally use the hot tub again. Yay! I could really use a relaxing soak.

Stay tuned. More summer fun yet to come!
